Adrien Norman Chouinard, 89

Salem — Mr. Adrien Norman Chouinard, 89, of Salem, beloved husband of the late, Madeline E. (Ayers) Chouinard, died Wednesday morning at Aviv Living Center in Peabody following a short illness, surrounded by his family.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late John B. and Eva (Bosse) Chouinard. He was raised and educated in Salem. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Chounard had been employed for many years as the store manager of the former First National Grocery Store until the time of his retirement in 1986.

A loving husband, father and grandfather, Adrien was dedicated to his family. He was an avid bowler and bingo player. He was an active member of the Salem Community, spending time at the Salem Senior Center and was a longtime member of the V.F.W., Witch City Post 1524, in Salem. An avid baseball fan, Adrien began a love for baseball at a young age as a fan of the former Boston Braves. This relationship would last a lifetime. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves win many World Series.

Adrien is survived by his son, Norman Chouinard and his wife, Elizabeth of Danvers; his three daughters, Theresa Plante and her husband, David of Connecticut, Linda Lyons and her husband, Robert of Salem and Ann M. Czarnecki and her husband, Edward J. of Salem; his five grandchildren, Lisa, Matthew, Mark, Christopher and Meghan; and four grea-grandchildren; his sister, Lorraine Slattery; his brother, Gilbert Chouinard; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late, Lucien Chouinard, Conrad Chouinard and Maurice Chouinard.

ARRANGEMENTS: His funeral will be held in the O’Donnell Funeral Home, 46 Washington Square (at Salem Common), Salem, Friday, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
