    Salem — Norman “Mitch” Beaulieu, 73, died Friday, July 4, 2014, in Lowell General Hospital. He was born in Salem, and was the son of the late Lucien and Catherine (Mahoney) Beaulieu. Norman lived in Salem for many years, and attended Salem schools, and had been employed as a meat cutter at the former A&P Supermarkets.

Ana was the wife of the late Teodoro A. Mesa, and they were married for 19 years. Ana's last employment was with Droll Design in Salem. Ana loved to sew and bowl in her free time. Her favorite artist was Fernando Villalona.

  • Caroline Dorothy Crowley-Padovano, 72

    Stoughton, MA — Caroline Dorothy Crowley-Padovano, 72, of Stoughton, Mass., passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2013. Born in Salem, Mass., on July 30, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Wiggin and Dorothy Haffeke-Wiggin. Caroline enjoyed and retired after 20 years from Hogan Regional Center in Middleton, Mass. She loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren in Texas, and her beloved dog, Fenway. Caroline was preceded in death by her son, Robert Crowley of New Hampshire; and brother, Louis Wiggin. Survivors include her husband, Stephen Padovano of Stoughton, Mass., and Naples, Fla.; children, William Crowley and wife, Robin, Thomas Crowley and wife, Michon, and Phillip Crowley and wife, Scherill, all of Austin, Texas; brother, Frederick Wiggin; sister, Helen Parker; sister-in-law, Karen Wiggin; and many grandchildren.

    Portland, Maine — Douglas W. Petersen, 66, of Marblehead, Mass., passed away on July 1, 2014. The former Democratric State Representative from Marblehead/Swampscott/Lynn and Massachusetts Department of Agriculture Commissioner was born in Rockville Centre, N.Y., on March 7, 1948. He held a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wagner College, a Master of Social Work from Simmons College, and a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University.

  • Gertrude Sprague, 95

    Hamilton — Gertrude Sprague, 95, of Hamilton, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Hathorne Hill Genesis Health Care in Danvers. Born in Hamilton on November 28, 1918, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Ethel ( Adams ) Sprague. She was raised and educated in Hamilton and a graduate of Hamilton High School, Class of 1936. Gertrude went to Hawthorne Business School in Salem. She worked for over 40 years for the New England Telephone Co., until she retired in 1983. Gertrude served her country in the United States Marine Corps in WWII as a Master Sergeant. After her discharge, she joined the Marine Reserves until she retired. In 1960, Gertrude became a member of the Woman’s Marine Association, where she served in many positions. For many years, she repaired and dressed dolls for the Toys For Tots organization. She resided in Venice, Fla., for 25 years, returning to Hamilton in 2006. She was a longtime member of First Congregational Church of Hamilton. Gertrude loved to travel and enjoyed hand crafts.

He was the dear brother of Nancy Gallagher of Franklin, Michael Dunne of Foxboro, Harold Dunne of Chatham, and the late George and James Dunne; and the brother-in-law of Elizabeth McCarthy of Littleton, James Spang of Wareham, and the late Philip Spang.

    Hamilton — Gertrude Sprague, 95, of Danvers, and formerly of Hamilton, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the Hathorne Hill Genesis Health Care in Danvers. Born in Hamilton on Nov. 28, 1918, she was the daughter of the late George H. and Ethel (Adams) Sprague. She was raised and educated in Hamilton and a graduate of Hamilton High School, Class of 1936.     Beverly — Jean F. (Shea) Egan, 89, wife of John F. Egan, died Wednesday morning at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Beverly, daughter of the late Joseph and Marion (Harrison) Shea, she lived in Beverly all her life. She was a graduate of Beverly High School, Class of 1942. Mrs. Egan was a graduate of the Burdett Secretary School and was employed at the Beverly National Bank for 20 years until her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish in Beverly. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She had many close friends, neighbors and “club girls” and will be missed by all who knew her.
