Letter: Rt. 1 mobile home is their 'piece of heaven'

To the editor:

I am writing in response to the Saturday, July 4, front-page column by Susan Flynn ("A makeover on Cabot Street").

Flynn wrote about a woman buying an old farmhouse in Beverly. In the article, it told how the woman's sister had taken her to see a mobile home on Route 1 in Peabody. Instantly, the woman decided she would rather buy the rundown house in Beverly.

I took great offense to the way the article made it seem like living in a mobile home was a fate worse than death.

I own a mobile home at 161 Newbury St. (Route 1) in Peabody and I happen to be very proud to live there. My husband and I feel that our home is our "little piece of heaven."

I would like to extend an invitation to Ms. Flynn, Ms. Gouthro and her sister to come to my home and see that not all mobile homes or their parks are equal to ours.
