Letter: Why waste time voting?

To the editor:

I'd like to know why the Democratic "super delegates'" votes are considered more valuable than thousands of ours?

Why can a small group of people, not elected by us to represent us — the Electoral College — elect the president of our country regardless of what our vote reflects?

Why can the nominee for president "appoint" the vice president, the person who would ascend to the position of president should the president for any reason not be able to fulfill his term of office? In our history that has happened several times — the vice president has become president, a person we the people did not select.

Mr. Obama did not get the majority of the popular vote in our country; Hillary Rodham Clinton did. Then why is he the Democratic nominee?

I have never failed beginning with my 18th birthday to vote in our national elections. But this year, with all these unanswered questions I have, I am really considering sitting this election out.

If my vote doesn't really matter anyway, why waste my time voting?
