Letter: Palin a better candidate than columnist thinks

To the editor:

This is in response to columnist Brian Watson's comments on Sarah Palin ("McCain's desperate choice undermines his candidacy," Viewpoint, Thursday, Sept. 11).

What major decisions has either Obama or Biden made during their years in the Senate? All they do is vote either yes or no, whereas Sarah Palin has had to make executive decisions in her position as mayor and governor.

She managed to get money from the oil companies which was then disbursed to the Alaskans. She had to negotiate a natural-gas pipeline with the oil companies and Canadian federal, provincial, and Inuit authorities. She managed to sell the official jet plane on eBay, judging it a waste of taxpayers' money. She also managed to get rid of the corruption in the government.

Yet Watson says Obama may have more qualifications than Palin? Obama is under investigation for having a sweetheart deal on properties purchased at an interest rate far lower than accorded to the public. This resulted in over a million dollars of interest he saved.

Judicial Watch is still trying to find his papers during the years he was a senator; so far nothing has been found. Why?

He has been present 130 times in the Senate, but did not vote. Why?
