Letter: Thanks for support for marathoner, other runners

To the editor:

My wife and I extend our sincere gratitude to The Salem News and your readers who supported our fundraising effort for the Sturge-Weber Foundation in memory of my mother, Hilda Thornhill Tabbut, as I ran in the Boston Marathon.

Thank you to the law enforcement officers, military personnel, volunteers, residents, runners, neighbors, family and friends for their efforts on our behalf on the day of the bombings and afterward that continue to this day.

Special thanks go to my teammates at the Wicked Running Club for all they have done to help local families injured in the explosions at the finish of the Boston Marathon via events such as the vigil at the Salem Common, the fun run at the New England Running Company, and other upcoming fundraisers.

My hope, like many other runners who did not get the chance to finish the race, is to return to the Boston Marathon next April and finish what we started.
