The Salem News
---- — To the editor:
I read with great sadness about the death of retired Salem State professor Minor McClain.
I had him for English History as an undergraduate and “World War II and the Age of Hitler” in graduate school, and he was the most interesting lecturer I ever had at Salem State. We used to stand outside his room, even if it wasn’t our class, just to listen to his lectures. He had a unique way of bringing history to life, as if he had been there.
And it sounds like he had done a lot for a lot of people after he retired. What a shame!
My sympathies to the Salem State community and to his family and friends.
