Letter: Spring dance a great success

The Salem News

---- — To the editor:

The 14th annual Spring Dance to benefit the Stephen M. O’Grady Foundation was held Saturday, April 27, at the Knights of Columbus in Salem, raising nearly $6,000 for continuing education scholarships for Salem Little League and Boys & Girls Club alumni. We never cease to be overwhelmed by the generosity of our community, with businesses and individuals donating numerous gift certificates and items, resulting in one of our most successful raffles to date!

A full listing of 2013 donors can be found on our events page at www.stephenogrady.com. We encourage our supporters to frequent their businesses and thank them for giving back to our community.

Thank you also to our volunteers: Larry, Janet and Lauren Puleo, Meg Galligan and Annemarie Michaud.

The mission of the Stephen M. O’Grady Foundation is to support Salem youth in their educational pursuits. In our first 13 years, we awarded 146 scholarships to Salem Little League alumni, totaling $115,200, donated $31,700 to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem, and supported events such as the after-prom party for Salem High School students.

Scholarships for 2013 will be announced in June and awarded at the banquet following the 14th Annual Steve O’Grady Open on Monday, Aug. 19 at Olde Salem Greens. Sponsorship and golf applications are available at www.stephenogrady.com.

We are grateful to friends, family and supporters for remembering Stephen by continuing his legacy of community service.
