Letter: Masco wrestling coach was great mentor

To the editor:

I had great pride and admiration in seeing Dennis Puleo inducted into the Massachusetts Wrestling Hall of Fame.

While attending Masconomet, I wrestled for Coach Puleo and was a member of Masco's Cape Ann League championship team in my senior year. That championship had everything to do with his leadership.

Coach Puleo, an old-school coach, teaches every one of his athletes about commitment, perseverance, maturity, discipline and sportsmanship. His influence on me and many others went far beyond the wrestling mat.

Each year, he would take on a new group of freshman boys and four years later he would graduate a group of senior men. His contributions to the personal and athletic development of all of his athletes throughout their four years of high school cannot be overstated.

Thank you, Coach Puleo, for your positive influence on all of the student-athletes that you have mentored over the years. This honor is well-deserved.
