Letter: Volunteers made Show House a success

To the editor:

A most heartfelt thank-you from the Danvers Historical Society trustees to all those who, from so many different backgrounds but all sharing a deep respect and care for history, made the recent Designers’ Holiday Show House at the Endicott Mansion/Glen Magna Farms such a grand success.

Through all the combined effort, the mansion was restored to the level of elegance it displayed when it was the home of the nationally and internationally prominent William Crowninshield family.

And through the combined effort of all, the Society raised funds for the stabilization and restoration of the National Historic Landmark Derby Summer House, designed in 1792 by world-renowned Salem architect Samuel McIntire.

Our thanks to the Show House sponsors: Landry & Arcari Oriental Rugs & Carpeting, Designer Bath/Salem Plumbing Supply, The Event Co., Peterson Party Center, Fireside Catering, Farrow & Ball: Craftsmen in Paint and Paper, NorthEast Community Bank and Northshore Magazine.

A special thanks to Mass General/Northshore Center for Outpatient Care for providing box after box of booties to protect the Oriental carpets and restored hardwood floors.

And thanks to the more than 200 people who helped in this worthy effort, especially:

Danvers interior designer, Society member and consultant, Show House chair Sandra Biondo (Sandra Biondo Interiors) for her more than a year of effort to engage and coordinate preservation-minded designers to create room designs in keeping with each other’s designs and within the 1890 to 1930s historic period of the mansion.

The 161 volunteer docents under the coordination of Society trustee Sheila Cooke-Kayser.

The wonderfully talented, regionally and nationally known interior designers who treasured the mansion and its beautiful Samuel McIntire architectural features: Yvonne Blacker (Yvonne Blacker Interiors);Michael Carter (Carter & Company); Jenifer Dunn Coen (Well Dunn Design); Caitlin Flynn & Elyse Parkhurst (North Fork Design); Lena Fransioli, Brooke Sheldon & Doug Garrabants (Zoe Design); Linda Hentschel (i-Design); Diana Kennedy (Diana Kennedy Interiors); Donald Allen Mosher & Christine Mosher (Mosher Gallery); Bill Ralph (William Ralph Fine Antiques & Design); Eric Roth (Eric Roth Photography); Donna Terry (Boston Design and Interiors); Karen Ward (Nantucket Decorative Painting); Candy Weston (Weston Design).
