Letter: Turkey Drive a great success

The Salem News

---- — To the editor:

On behalf of It Starts With ME!, a big thank you to everyone who helped make the sixth-annual Turkey Drive a huge success. This year, with help from family, friends, strangers, volunteers, businesses, schools and sports teams, we were able to provide 117 Thanksgiving meals to families and veterans in five different cities on the North Shore.

Our sixth year exceeded all expectations. In total, we have fed more than 550 people as well as provided 75 boxes of food to five local shelters on the North Shore. This was a group effort and we wouldn’t be able to do this without all of our donors and volunteers.

A special thanks to:

Anthony Carnevale and everyone at Salem Liquors. Having an alternative drop-off location was very important as we had received more donations than ever; 30 community volunteers, including Carol Cronin, Sue Sironi, Michelle Archambault, Rachel MacCabe, Brian Parsons, Javier Nieves, Julien Nieves, Catalina Nieves, Juan Nieves, Katie Nieves, AJ Lombardi, Liz McKinnon and Thomas McKinnon.

Melissa St. Pierre and her Advance Health class who collected items for the turkey drive and packaged and delivered meals. Thank you Desjardin Baez, Alix Bryant, Cindy Caba, Austin Connolly, Angela Coppola, Todd Dunlop, Maria Encarnacion, Glen Gard, Hayley Gaynor, Winifred Hauber, Emily Hernando, Desiree Martin, Alejandro Rubero, Sarah Smialek, Kaitlyn Valle and Hannah Wilkins.

Tanya Phelps and Meredith Tibbo at the Johnson School in Nahant; the Nahant Fire Department; Melissa Verhoosky at the Highlands School in Danvers; Heather Brings at the Hathaway School in Lynn; Kelly Silk at Bates School in Salem; Coach Adrianna Carnevale and the Peabody High School cheerleading squad; Erin Ford and her coworkers at Mary Kay; Matt Viel and Dominic Cavallaro III at John Cerasuolo Inc. who donated a pick-up truck loaded with fresh produce; Rachel Baizen at Acquia; Lisa Larivee at McKesson; Scott Fisher at Salem Plumbing Supply; Peter Dragon at Engine House, who donated warm pizzas for the volunteers; Jeff Morse at Market Basket who was a big help with purchasing the turkeys, and a huge thank you to everyone who donated.

I’m looking forward to next year’s Turkey Drive — have a safe and happy holiday!
