Letter: Thank you for Special Olympics support

To the editor:

On Sunday, Dec. 8, Special Olympics Massachusetts held its annual Jolly Jaunt 5K fundraiser at the Lahey Outpatient Center in Danvers. This year’s fundraiser was an enormous success, bringing in more than $90,000 with close to 1,200 participants. The brisk winter day began with a 1K Kid’s Fun Run followed by a 5K race and walk. Afterwards, all of the participants were invited to the tent where a post-race holiday party was being held. This year’s party included a DJ, raffle prizes and awards, as well as an arrangement of delicious food donated by some of the best local restaurants on the North Shore.

Special Olympics Massachusetts would like to recognize this year’s premier sponsors, the New Balance Foundation and Lahey Outpatient Center, Danvers. We especially want to recognize Director Leslie St. Pierre of the Lahey Outpatient Center, Danvers for the continued support and for hosting the event.

Special Olympics Massachusetts would also like to extend a thank you to all of the restaurants who generously donated food or gift certificates that would fuel the post-race participants. A special thank you goes out to Texas Roadhouse, Kings Bowling of Lynnfield, Legal Seafoods, Orange Leaf of Salem, Monster Energy, Country 102.5, and Elements Massage of Middleton, whose employees volunteered at the event. We would also like to thank the Greater Boston Running Company for generously donating runner’s bags for the event. All donations to this event were greatly appreciated by all.
