Letter: Many helped restore playground

To the editor:

On a cold Saturday morning in November, a group of parents, staff and community volunteers gathered to rebuild a playground structure that had been vandalized at Saltonstall Elementary School. With guidance from Steve Dibble, volunteers dug holes, built the structure, poured cement, hauled mulch and created a fun, safe and playful environment for the youngest of our students. Without the efforts of so many people, we could not have completed building the structure. We would also like to thank Coffee Time bakery for donating hot coffee, muffins and Danish; Engine House, Dematas and Fran and Diane’s Pizza for their kind donations of pizza and salad; Mully’s Auto Repair for the use of their flatbed truck and assistance unloading the equipment. The children are enjoying the play structure, and it is wonderful to finally have the big hole filled with fun and laughter again.

Thanks to all who volunteered their time to help us: Pam Rochna, Jose Juste, Lisa Anderson, Nate Dibble, Yvonne VanBodengraven, Jeff Barz-Snell, Marlene Warner, Linda and Chuck Abbene, Ben Stewart, John Voss, Artie and Kim Sullivan, Jim Newman, Kathleen Salas, Rafael Baptista, Laura Towey, Ed Burge, Karen Veno, Ben Arlander, Tao Zhank, Kevin and Owen Clyne, David Manganis, Diane Harding, Dave Wettengel, Conrad Roszko, Amy Harding, Uncle Henry, Jane Turiel Scott and Emily Froeshel, Principal Julie Carter and Larry and Sue Spang.
