Letter: 'Incensed' by candidate's mailing

To the editor:

I was wondering why Mayor Bill Scanlon couldn’t show the integrity and class shown by Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino when he refused to endorse either candidate running to succeed him, allowing the voters to judge for themselves.

I was wondering why Wes Slate feels that the voters of Beverly would support him after sending out a negative attack mailing filled with distortions, innuendos, and downright lies about his opponent Mike Cahill.

We, who have known Mike for years, are incensed.

There is a high road and a low road one can take in politics. The low road, pioneered by Karl Rove, the Koch brothers, the SuperPacs are turning voters off and debasing democracy.

Beverly deserves better.

I was wondering why Wes Slate supports projects that have been approved or are underway but does not list one visionary idea for the future. No plans, no new ideas.

Just wondering.
