To the editor:
Hats off to the Beverly High School Destination Imagination team “Left Ventricle,” which took first place for its “Pandemonium Challenge” at the state competition held at Worcester Polytechnic Institute on March 29.
Destination Imagination is a creative problem-solving competition in which students from elementary through high school solve challenges involving technical, scientific, theatrical, mechanical, improvisational and other skills. In a nutshell, it’s a hilariously entertaining, mind-boggling adventure for the students and audience alike. Check out their website (madikids.org ) to see if your kids might be interested in this amazing program.
The Destination Imagination team now has the distinguished honor of representing Beverly High School at the global finals held at the University of Tennessee on May 21 to 24, competing with more than 1,300 teams representing 26 countries. Absolutely amazing.
And the guys — Edward McFeeters Jr., Owen Bolas, Liam Beaudoin, Alex D’Alfonso, Matt Gill and Ryan Noss — are pumped! What a great way to top off senior year. Great job!
Hats off, as well, to the team’s manager, Suzanne Beaudoin, who has been with our boys (young men now) for the whole seven-year journey. We, the parents, appreciate her time, effort, her opening up her home, the snacks, her patience and her belief that eventually, victory would come, and it would be sweet. And yes it is!
This is Beverly High School’s first trip to globals. Briscoe Middle School had the honor two years ago.
If you would like to help support our team, we need to raise $10,000 before the finals. Please check us out on the fundraising website: gofundme.com/Beverly-HS-DI-2014-Globals.
We appreciate your consideration and potential funding of our team.
Again, congratulations to a job well done, guys.
Watch out Tennessee; here we come.
