To the editor:
The following poem was written with the help of Josephine Mulvihill in memory of my former husband, John O'Brien, 58, who died on June 23.
John could always make me smile
Or even laugh out loud
He could tell a joke and brighten my day
Or entertain a crowd.
His heart was filled with so much love
For friends and family;
I treasure the 37 years
That he was a friend to me.
He loved his children more than life
And wherever he may be,
He's watching Jimmy and Shannon
And his youngest, Ann Marie.
Marlene and Mary, his sisters
Were very important to John;
He loved them both, but he and Marlene
Shared a very special bond.
I'm grateful for the love he gave
To my children Rachael and Shane;
So many people shared John's life,
Too many more to name.
Our lives are better for knowing him
As family and friend;
We know that this is not good-bye
And will someday meet again
