Letter:Richard Tisei is no John McCain

To the editor:

Etched in all of our memories is when Senator John McCain stood up in defense of Obama’s character, telling a woman at a rally, “No, ma’am. He’s a decent family man and citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues and that’s what this campaign’s all about. He’s not an Arab.” This brave statement did not change my vote but like the rest of our nation, I found new respect for McCain. John McCain was willing to stand up to the Tea Party and their antics and do what was right and decent.

Richard Tisei is no John McCain.

Richard Tisei has had many opportunities to do what is right and decent and call a halt to the incriminations of Congressman Tierney. Instead, Tisei has fanned the fire, constantly making side comments about John Tierney’s integrity and promoting ads and online banners suitable for the National Enquirer. Tisei’s strategy has been to make the congressman’s wife the primary issue of the campaign and avoid discussing the fundamental issues that could cost Tisei votes.

Richard Tisei knows that the felonious brothers-in-law never produced the supposed proof that John knew that their legal gambling operation was actually illegal. And, Tisei knows that not just a sitting congressman (no one) would make a social visit to a relative, if it was known the relative was the target of a grand jury investigation.

Tisei is from the North Shore and knows that for years, Patrice Tierney has cared for both her brothers’ children because her brothers effectively abandoned them and Patrice wasn’t about to as well.

And he knows that Patrice Tierney was duped by her brothers-in-law, and she has suffered as a result. Tisei knows that Tierney is telling the truth and that Patrice is a good person but he does not have the courage like Sen. McCain to tell the Tea Party to stop their defamatory campaign.
