Letter: Town clerk should stay elected post

To the editor:

The Wenham town clerk provides the direct, daily connection between the people of this community and their town hall. The office should be filled by a Wenhamite who is known, trusted and chosen by the people. It should, of course, be an elected position.

Why would we forfeit that decision to an “interim” town administrator (not even a Wenham resident) and an ever-changing Board of Selectmen? Let’s keep the control where it belongs. The present system works just fine.
