Thanks: Olde Salem Greens race a huge success

To the editor:

On behalf of the Salem Park, Recreation and Community Services Department, a big thank-you to runners, sponsors and volunteers for making the 10th Annual 5K Cross Country Run a great success.

We had 300 registered runners, making it another great race day at the golf course.

This race truly is an early spring/end-of-winter tradition in Salem.

Race sponsors included Ernst & Young, the Boston Herald and The North Face.

Thanks to volunteers Kathey Moskal, Beth O'Grady, Alison and Kerry Phelan, Gif Campbell, Brian Chisholm, Mara Mendelsohn, Meghan Murtagh, Alexi Kehoe, Stephanie Bona, Sarah Morgan, and Samantha Mancinelli. Thank you, Joel Richardson, for taping the event for SATV.

Special thanks to the crew at Olde Salem Greens golf course — Paul Lever, Scott MacDonald, Bill Castonguay and Mike Gallagher — for getting the course ready for the run. North Shore Timing did a great job timing the race. Special thanks, too, to the Wicked Running Club, which always brings a large contingent.

We are thrilled with the success and interest in our programs and special events!
