Letter: Rand has solid ideas

The Salem News

---- — To the editor:

I’m writing to urge voters in Beverly Ward 2 to support Estelle Rand for ward councilor in the preliminary election on Sept. 24.

Among the candidates for this open seat, Estelle stands out. As director of the Beverly Farmers’ Market, she was the prime mover behind the market’s expansion and move to Veterans’ Park on Rantoul Street, where it has become a significant and greatly valued downtown institution. She’s also an active member of the Solid Waste Management Committee, Beverly Main Streets’ 30 & Main group, and the Arts and Enrichment Committee at Cove Elementary School, where her two children are students.

As I have gotten to know Estelle, I’m consistently impressed by her combination of creativity, thoughtfulness and practicality. She has a good understanding of the strengths of our community, as well as the changes and challenges we face. She has solid ideas for moving Beverly forward, and, even more important, she has shown a capacity to bring people together to transform ideas into reality.

I believe that Estelle Rand will serve us very well on the Beverly City Council. If you live in Beverly Ward 2, I hope you will join me in voting for her on September 24. To read more about Estelle and her ideas for Beverly, go to
