Letter: Slate will serve with vigor, dedication

The Salem News

---- — To the editor:

As the preliminary election for mayor of Beverly draws near, we want to voice our support for Wes Slate as the candidate most capable of leading our city.

A resident of Beverly since 1982, Wes has served the people as a city councilor and vice president of the council for the past six years. As a businessman, his work ethic is beyond reproach, and his commitment to service is boundless.

Voters need only consider his record of commitment and attendance at City Council meetings in comparison to that of his opponent to realize who will serve with more vigor and dedication. Mayor Scanlon has reported that the other candidate only met once with him during the entire time he was council president. What does that say about commitment and dedication? We urge voters not to be swayed by generations of family residency when voting for a new mayor. Vote for the man who will work hardest and serve best. Not just when it is convenient, but every day.
