Letter: Bernard's will be missed

To the editor:

Downtown Salem’s appearance will change a bit when Bernard’s Jewelers disappears.

It’s been there so long, appealing to a diverse audience — jewelry, yes, but also Byer’s carolers. I liked to enter the store and admire the boat model collection behind the jewelry.

My family has gone there many years for gifts and jewelry. My late aunt, Mrs. Regina Martin, was a well-known customer.

Now all is ending, with no replacement.
