Letter: Peabody Fire showed professionalism, compassion

To the editor:

On Saturday, Sept. 29, my elderly mother and I experienced a fire in our apartment.

At approximately 6:15 a.m., we were awakened by the Peabody Fire Department knocking on our door. As smoke filled our apartment, we vacated the building under the guidance of the firefighters. In a calm, organized manner, they quickly extinguished the fire.

We were very impressed with the firefighters’ concern for not only our safety and well-being but the care they displayed for our belongings and furnishings.

We are extremely grateful to the Peabody Fire Department for their professionalism and compassion.
