Letter: Hats off to Salem principal

To the editor:

Hats off to Mary Manning (“Students are the real stakeholders,” Feb. 22). She has always been a leader in educating “the whole student.” In addition to a great arts and physical education program, she also focuses school staff on students’ social and emotional needs and development, elements not measured by MCAS scores. She has made Collins Middle School a model for its productive use of special education and student access to counseling.
