To the editor:
I'm writing in response to Steven Epstein's thoughtful letter to the editor ("Capuano failed to exploit pot reform," Tuesday, Feb. 9).
Today, ending marijuana prohibition is a winning issue and opposing it is a losing one. Ten years ago, this was not true.
At least 100 million Americans admit to having used marijuana. And since a large portion of Americans would not admit to a complete stranger that they use or have used an illegal substance, the number is probably much higher.
Congressman Mike Capuano should have asked Martha Coakley if she is on the payroll of the Mexican drug cartels. If she is not, she might as well be because the policies she advocates are making the cartels famously wealthy.
