Letter: A 19th-century council

To the editor:

I have been really shocked to see what a one-sided City Council Salem has. No women? Perhaps no people of color? No representatives of those who live in The Point neighborhood? The 21st century is well under way, and we have a council that looks more like the 19th. Clearly, in your inability to reach a simple majority, let alone consensus, in this election for council, surely you don’t need to waste your time (and the people’s) not attending to what should be the people’s business, attending to the city’s needs.
