The first Maple Street Church Golf Tournament benefiting the Danvers People-to-People Food Pantry was a great success. Dozens of golfers took part in the nine-hole event at the Rowley Country Club on June 30. Many local Danvers businesses and individuals generously sponsored tournament golf holes and donated raffle prizes. The Maple Street Church golf tournament committee greatly appreciated host Rowley Country Club’s efforts to make the event a success. Committee members were Bruce Billingham, Ken Blackadar, Larry and Judy Drouin, Paul and Donna Eovacious, Tom Manuel and the Rev. Kevin Smith. At the end of play, the golfers were treated to a delicious lunch prepared by Karen and Frank Kilty.
The Tournament Committee is very grateful to the following businesses and people for their generosity with various sponsorships and donations to help the Danvers Food Pantry, which assists 250 families with food and other items twice a month: Angel Hair, American Bistro, Betty Ann Sandwich Shop, Beverly Cooperative Bank, Bruce and Valerie Billingham/Hart House, Castiello Italian Bakery, Cherry Street Fish Mkt., Chuck’s Restaurant, Cigars “R” Us, Cork Screw Liquors, Curran Bros.
