Letter: What's wrong with that picture?

The Salem News

---- — To the editor:

This past weekend, no one could read the paper or turn on the television without hearing about all the “problems” the sequestration would cause. We may come to realize after these cuts that some expenditures are not needed.

The Salem News wrote of the cuts at Beverly Airport (“Spending cuts hit home,” March 1). Part of the story mentioned that Beverly Airport will stay open but will operate without controllers, something it has done in the past.

The airport currently has 59,000 flights per year with six controllers. In the same story, it mentioned that in the past, the airport had 200,000 flights with no controllers. What is wrong with this picture?
