Letter: Grateful for everyone's efforts in annual tournament

To the editor:

The Board of Directors of the Ray Gallant Tournament would like to thank everyone who participated in our 30th annual tournament in honor of Ray Gallant this past August. Once again the community in each of our entrant cities showed their support for their teams with donations, sponsorships and by coming out to cheer their city’s entry. We are grateful for everyone’s efforts in making this yet again another successful year.

We’d like to recognize the 30th Annual Gallant Tournament Champions, Lynn, for a fantastic tourney. They proved their mettle time and time again against quality teams that were well coached and well stocked with talented players. And more importantly, all the teams were full of excellent, polite, and upstanding youth baseball players. They continued to play with dignity, class and respect for their opponents. Their parents should be proud and take pride in their accomplishments this past August.

We’d like to thank the teams from Swampscott/Nahant, Peabody, Amesbury, Wakefield and Marblehead for coming down and playing hard and fair every game. Our change this year to wood bats was well received and made for extremely competitive games day after day, night after night. We hope you had as much fun playing as we did watching.

To our sponsors, your copy of the souvenir books will be to you shortly. We thank you for your generous and continued support and we hope to have you back next year.

And if you missed it ... there’s always our 31st!
