Since the reputation of our city and its property values are both closely linked to the reputation (both perceived and actual) of our public schools, this year’s Beverly School Committee race is especially important to me. I am thrilled to see that Lorinda Visnick decided to run for School Committee to represent Ward 6. I can’t imagine anyone more committed and competent for the job than Lorinda. Those of us who have had the good fortune of working closely with Lorinda have experienced her ability to be a leader and a visionary who wants the best for the children of Beverly and then comes up with ways to make it happen. She works tirelessly to find new sources of funding beyond taxpayer contributions to support enrichment programs in our schools.
As a fellow board member of the Beverly Education Foundation, Lorinda continually impresses me with her ability to think big, motivate people and get the job done. Her successful work and efforts to obtain a $100,000 Cummings Center grant to support programs in the public schools is just one example of the many programs she leads. Lorinda’s determination, her keen intelligence, her humor and her sense of service for the students make us fortunate to have someone like Lorinda living in Beverly. With her own children in our elementary schools, the middle school and the high school, Lorinda sees firsthand where our public schools excel and where they could use support. Beverly is lucky to have someone like Lorinda who is a true champion of children’s education.
