To the editor:
I am writing this letter to tell the person or persons who have decided to damage decorative cement items in front of my shop on two different occasions that I hope someday they understand the financial burden this can cause. These items are very expensive and to not care about the time and money involved in purchasing them is selfish beyond understanding. This is not the first or second time I have had problems. You have, on a number of occasions, ripped the flowers out of their planters for no apparent reason except to be mean.
Bridge Street was involved in a two-plus-year project to upgrade and make this historic entrance into Salem a welcoming experience when entering the city. When vehicles drive down Bridge Street and see damage that has been done, it obviously does not give visitors a warm experience nor is it very welcoming.
I don’t expect that the person or persons will ever see this letter because I don’t expect they even read The Salem News, nor do they even care.
It’s sad that a business that cares about its appearance and tries to bring beauty to a city and street has to cease doing so because it can’t afford to replace the damage caused by such selfish individuals.
