Letter: Veteran is proud to see rainbow flag

To the editor:

With all due respect to fellow veteran Victor Capozzi, this straight veteran is elated to see rainbow flags flying along with Old Glory to acknowledge people in our communities here on the North Shore who are gay.

He states that he’s ashamed of the city of Beverly for flying the rainbow flag, as if it denigrates the American flag for whom he says people gave their lives. Mr Capozzi, some of those people you refer to just happened to be gay, served their country in the same patriotic manner as all others in our military and continue to serve, many heroically!

I applaud every city and town that shows its appreciation for the gay citizens among us by flying their rainbow flag.

God Bless America!
