Letter: Some gay people are veterans, too

To the editor:

I am writing in response to the article in the June 19 edition of The Salem News about the veterans taking exception to the rainbow flag flying under the American one.

Do those who object realize that there are veterans who are gay? Like it or not, there were quite a few brave men who fought alongside them, who suffered not only the stress of war but the fear of those who condemned them finding out that they were gay.

So, the rainbow flag does have a right to be flown under the American flag.
