Two views on the Saltonstall vote

The Salem News

---- — The Salem School Committee voted 4-3 last week to end the extended year at the Saltonstall School. The program, which began at the K-8 school in 1996, saw pupils attending class for 190 days a year, as opposed to the 180 days in the rest of the district.

On today's Opinion page, we offer the statement School Committee member Nate Bryant made at the meeting in favor of reducing the Saltonstall year, along with a statement made at the same meeting by Ward 5 City Councilor Josh Turiel, the parent of a Saltonstall student.
