To the editor:
Snow once again could not dampen the Irish in all of us as we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day in our finest green as part of the 50th anniversary celebration with a traditional corned beef dinner prepared by Clover Leaf Catering on March 9. More than 240 people attended.
Rave reviews to the St. John’s Prep Celtic Band and singers and to the O’Shea-Chaplin Irish dancers for donating their talents for the evening’s entertainment Marge and Tom Leonard were acknowledged for their years of service to St. Richard Parish and for serving as honorary chairmen for the 50th anniversary.
Sincere appreciation is given to Lyons Ambulance for assisting us with handicapped access to our church hall. Raffle baskets were donated from the various parish ministries, Evie Fraser, the Finance and Parish councils, and Girl Scout Troop 6020 Danvers.
There were donated services from Maureen and Jim Lilly of Festive Signs, Frank’s Florist, Merchants Liquor, Clover Leaf Catering, and bartenders John Runnals and Jim Sears. Extra food from the evening was donated to River House in Beverly.
A special thank-you to our lead leprechaun for the evening, Chairman Mary Roach, and her committee for a job well done! Mary would like to extend a note of gratitude to an anonymous snowplower who came to the rescue by clearing the driveway to the rear of the church for the food delivery the day of the event.
On Friday, March 22, Tina Luce treated us with a special Lenten feast — a concert as our 50th anniversary kickoff to Holy Week.
Tina (blind since birth) shared her life story and her gift of bringing prayer to song in such a peaceful way, touching everyone’s heart, mind and soul; truly divine and inspirational for all who attended. Thanks to Tina, her assistance dog, Nola, and to Chairman Mark Hayward for this wonderful evening.
