Letter: It’s Perrone’s time for Hall of Fame

The Salem News

---- — To the editor:

I am writing to commend and congratulate Ken Perrone on his induction into the Salem High School Sports Hall of Fame.

One of my favorite passages from the Old Testament is, “There is a time for everything.” In Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, it states that there is a time to forgive, heal and let go. Ken Perrone’s time has come to be in the Hall of Fame –– what is right is right. He is a coach’s coach –– the epitome and essence of the best in coaching and a role model to so many. He was a Hall of Fame coach before the strike, during the strike and after the strike.

I had the innate faith and confidence that the new Hall of Fame Committee would recognize and respect the role and responsibility that Ken has played as the winningest SHS coach. Great credit should be given to Dr. Janet Crane of the School Committee in developing the policy for the new Hall of Fame Committee. I tried to make justice (new Hall of Fame Committee) out of an injustice (old Sports Hall of Fame Committee). I am very happy, honored and humbled to play a difference in this just cause.

My deepest appreciation and thanks to the committee for their diligence, professionalism and dedication to the true meaning of the Sports Hall of Fame. My congratulations to the other well-honored and respected inductees for the June banquet. It’s Ken’s time to be in the Sports Hall of Fame.
