Letter: A salute to Salem kids

To the editor:

Working for principals like Mickey Ward and Dave Angeramo, teaching alongside distinguished math colleagues like Rita Cusack, Rita Cashman, Bill Triant, Judy DelRosario and Tom Risoldi, it doesn’t get any better than that. Or does it?

Salem kids. It is often said that the strength of a school is reflected in the effectiveness of its leaders and the quality of its teachers and support staff. No argument. Salem High has something else going for it. Diversity. The kids who walked the stage at graduation exercises the other day did so as one. They may have grown up in different neighborhoods, under different circumstances, speaking different languages, but they grew up together, and together they graduated. The members of the Class of 2014 are about to go their separate ways, as is this teacher in retirement, but tolerance, respect, friendship and love will forever unite them.

Salem kids.
