Letter: Roads in deplorable condition

To the editor:

My wife and I were driven from our home in Salem recently to the headquarters of the MBTA Ride in Charlestown. We were there to be interviewed for a possible spot in their program.

The reason for my remarks is the condition of the roads in Massachusetts and, by extension, the roads and the infrastructure of the entire country. In a word, the roads are horrible! What an opportunity for federal relief, to employ tens of thousands of American workers in good-paying jobs. This will stimulate the economy immensely at a very reasonable cost and should be started immediately.

This project will repair not only roads but bridges and tunnels and other elements of the national infrastructure. It is imperative to start immediately!

Democratic and Republican parties in Congress, please note.
