Letter: Loving disc golf

To the editor:

I lived on the North Shore for many, many, many years and subscribed to The Salem News.

I retired to Vero Beach, Fla., where I enjoy my tennis, pickle ball and disc golf. I learned to play 10 years ago when my grandson wanted to play. We would go to Amesbury for the town park and enjoyed it. My wife, Kathy, took up the game, too.

Most people retired in Vero who return to the North Shore for the summer gripe about taking the road through all the traffic, trucks and potholes, and the zillions of cars as they drive fast to get back to the North Shore. Not us. We stop and play disc golf at Winthrop College, Washington & Lee and in central Pennsylvania, northern New Jersey and New York. We end up in Worcester, Fort Devens and Amesbury, then go on to Maine and Pleasant Hill. We take our time, enjoy playing and have so much fun. Thanks for the article on Peabody (“Disc golf, anyone.” June 28), and we look forward to playing when we come north next month.
