Letter: A message for grave robbers

To the editor:

This is addressed to whomever took our flowers.

Each year we place planters on my family grave site in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Salem. This year I returned to water them and the entire planter was removed leaving just the supporting legs. Not only were ours gone but several were gone from the neighboring grave sites.

Whoever took them did not want them for their own grave sites but chose them to raise some cash for their needs, be it to support a habit or just an opportunity to capitalize on some trusting people. This is a Memorial Day to remember our loved ones, not an opportunity for “grave robbers” to profit.
