Letter: Touched by community support for 'The Art of Dressing'

The Salem News

---- — To the editor:

On March 2, “The Art of Dressing, A Cocktail Soiree and Fashion Show” was held at the Knights of Columbus in Salem, and what a soiree it was! We were so touched by the outpouring of support for both organizations, Brookhouse Home for Women and Woman’s Friend Society. Both are nonprofit and have been serving women in Salem for 289 years. Both are managed by a volunteer board of government dedicated to enriching the lives of women.

We would like to acknowledge all our wonderful supporters of this event. Without them the success of our soiree would not have been possible.

We gratefully acknowledge the generous financial support provided by our friends at Eastern Bank, Cabot Money Management, and Salem Five.

Many thanks to the Knights of Columbus for the beautiful hall, to Simeen Brown for a classy invitation, to Lilly McCrea for putting together the program book, to Jerry Jones at Gangi Printing for his patience and kind heart, to Henry’s for putting together a sumptuous menu for all to enjoy, to Carol McIntire, our harpist, for her beautiful music, to Deborah Greel, our commentator, who came with her sparkling personality, to Joanne Bloom, an independent beauty consultant, Bliss Hair Salon of Marblehead for their style and energy. Thank you Ann Tucker and Trish Swenson from Irresistibles and their models, Janet Collette, Sue Durkin, Deb Lee, Madison Ballou and Sue Ballou. Thank you Janet Barsanti from J. Mode and her models, Betsy Merry, Patrice Cowhig, Carolyn Winkler, Venessa Kersker, Margaret Armstrong and Karen Davis. Thank you Mr. Bill Graham of Beautiful Things and his models, Kristen Rogers, Laurie Brady, Betsy Burns, Tara O’Leary, Kim and Jen Ballou. Thank you Jeff Gibeley from J. Gibley and models, George Barbuzzi, Jack Melin, Jim Jellison, and Brady Howard.

For all those who invested in an ad, we wish you good fortune and thank you. Our raffle was outstanding because of these generous people: Bernard’s Jewelers, Andrew Michael Salon and Spa, Historic Salem, Hawthorne Hotel, Boston Harbor Cruises, Bea derBedrosian, Brookhouse Home, Nantucket Hotel and Resorts, Jeannine Gaudette, Norman Kolesnikoff, Kensington Stobart Gallery, Harbor Sweets, Peabody Essex Museum Gift Shop, Bertini’s Restaurant, Dube’s Restaurant.

To all the above we are touched by your giving so freely, making this event such a success. Thank you Jim McAllister, Salem historian, and Stephanie Francis from Gordon College News Service, for your great coverage in The Salem News.
