Letter: Supporters make annual golf classic a success

The Salem News

---- — To the editor:

On a beautiful sunny day, the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club of Peabody held its annual Torigian Golf Classic at The Meadow in Peabody on June 17. This event has become an outstanding example of how community organizations can work together for a common goal. Understanding that the business community is almost the first place people look to provide support to the very many good causes out there, the Chamber and Rotary have tried to make it easy for businesses, which very often are members of both organizations, to enjoy a great day on a beautiful course while supporting two valuable organizations and one great objective — raising funds for scholarships awarded to area high school students.

Special thanks to Cranney Home Services for sponsoring the tournament, as well as all of our golfers, including Addco Inc, Allied Waste, Allsafe Lock & Key, Atlantic Ambulance, Brooksby Village, Century Bank, Community Credit Union, Conway Cahill Brodeur Funeral Homes, Descenza Diamonds, Eastern Bank, Gravoc Associates, Holden Oil, Kappy’s Fine Wine & Spirits, Keller Williams Realty, Landry Home Decorating, Law Office of Brian Cassidy, MacLean, Holloway, Doherty, Ardiff & Morse PC, Making a Difference in Peabody, Metro Credit Union, North Shore Bank, Northeast Commercial Real Estate, Peabody Financial Services, Peabody House, Peoples United Bank, Perfectos Caffe, Phil Richard Insurance, Salem Five Bank, Shuman & Epstein LLC, TD Bank, Title Boxing Club, US Roofing, Wayside Trailers, and Winslow Evans & Crocker.

Golfers were treated to coffee and bagels, compliments of Perfecto’s Caffe and Peabody Financial Services, and TL Massage provided complimentary chair massages.

Even businesses that didn’t golf in the event showed their support through various sponsorships and donations. We’d like to thank: A Small Creation, Action Ambulance, Atlantic Ambulance, Barbash Family, Building Supplies Outlet, Cheesecake Factory, Century House, Christian Book Distributors, Community Credit Union, Cranney Companies, Danversport Yacht Club, Eastern Bank, Edible Arrangements, Golf Country, Golfers Warehouse, Gravoc Associates, Griffin & Merrow, Holden Oil, Martha Holden, Holy Ghost Society of Peabody, It’s The Results, Jades Restaurant, Land & Sea, Kappy’s Fine Wine & Spirits, Keller Williams/Robin O’Donnell, Land Computer, Metro Credit Union, Moore GMC, North Shore Bank, North Shore Navigators, Padgett Business Services, PF Chang’s, Paradise Golf, Puro Clean Property Damage Restoration, RTN Federal Credit Union, Salem Five Bank, Scosso Restaurant, Stonewood Tavern, Sun ‘n Air, Art of Shaving, TD Bank, Dan Vassallo, Yo’Gut Style Frozen Yogurt, Waysider Trailers and Winslow Evans & Crocker.

Peter Cronan and his staff at The Meadow are always a pleasure to work with, going out of their way to make our event run smoothly and successfully each year. We would also like to thank Santoro’s of Peabody for a fabulous catered lunch.

Local photographer Rick Reade of Rick Reade Photography captured some amazing images of the day.

The strength and success of a business depends heavily on having an educated, well-trained workforce, and being a good corporate citizen is among the mission of both the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce and Peabody Rotary. We are pleased that 100 percent of the proceeds of this event stay right here in the community through scholarships to local students.
