---- — To the editor:
I encourage the people of Danvers to vote for David A. Mills for selectman in the upcoming election to take place on May 7. As the word “select” means “choice, excellent and outstanding,” it literally defines the man I’ve known for more than 12 years. David’s exceptional character and unparalleled credentials speak for themselves.
To the office of selectman, he would bring a long-distinguished law career, culminating in a judgeship to the Massachusetts Appeals Court, which he held for 19 years. During 45 years of practice, David argued three cases before the U.S. Supreme Court. His legal work incorporated a myriad of judicial proceedings, including civil litigation, criminal defense, local land-use matters and local government. In private practice, he presented about 2,000 cases to governmental agencies, e.g., zoning, planning, conservation commission, city councils and boards of selectmen. Of vital importance is the fact that he is trained in mediation and conciliation, which provides him with a unique ability to positively arbitrate the differing opinions faced by a prospective town selectman.
David was born, raised and lives in Danvers to this day. For 25 years, he was a Town Meeting member, serving three terms as town moderator prior to his nomination to the Massachusetts Appeals Court. He is also a founding member of the Danvers Diversity Committee.
I’ve selected David as my candidate because he sincerely cares for the people of Danvers and is totally committed to providing the best leadership for this town. I hope that you will choose to support him on Tuesday, May 7, at the polls.
