The Salem News
---- — To the editor:
Although Salem’s Boston Street is generally modern in layout, parts of the past still peek through in places. The large home at the southern corner of Grove and Boston streets is a good example.
This large house is a type dating back to the Revolutionary War, with wharves backing up on the North River behind it. Its style is disappearing, with almost no other examples present. (Different from the past.) What still holds true (as I wrote years ago) is that its downstairs front rooms are reassembled in a Kansas City (Missouri) Museum, from years back.
That means they exist, but not in this area. An unfortunate state of affairs, I believe.
