Letter: Fix the problems that already exist

To the editor:

A short time ago, I read in The Salem News about a grant of money to be used in the Point area of Salem (“A splash pad for Point park’s future?” April 15). I believe it was $200,000.

The money, I thought, was to be used to promote the area to attract more business.

A water park is not going to promote business.

Some of that money should be spent on the sidewalks of Derby and Essex streets.

There are broken bricks and open spaces where trees once stood.

These are a hazard and could result in a lawsuit against the city.

Let’s fix what we have now.
