Letter: Fueled for Fitness set for this weekend

To the editor:

We would like to let the citizens of Beverly know that on Sunday, May 18, the North Beverly Elementary School is sponsoring the fifth annual Fueled By Fitness 5K and Kids Fun Run. If you would like to run or walk with us, come to North Beverly School at 48 Putnam St. by 8:15 a.m. to register. The warm-up is at 8:15 a.m., the Fun Run is at 8:30, and the 5K is at 9. The wheel-measured course begins and ends at North Beverly School. T-shirts are provided for the 5K, and water is provided for both the 5K and the Fun Run. No bikes or dogs are allowed for either run. Additional information is available at The warm-up will be provided by U.S. Taekwondo.

This year will be very special, because we will have a flag ceremony after the Kids Fun Run, about 8:45 a.m. BHS ROTC students will help us retire our current flag and raise a new flag. Our new flag was gifted to state Rep. Jerry Parisella, who is a North Beverly parent. The flag has flown over the nation’s Capitol and will now fly proudly at the North Beverly School. Military families can run the 5K at no charge and are encouraged to be a part of the day by attending the ceremony, cheering for runners along the route or running themselves.

The entry fee for the 5K is $25. The Fun Run has a $5 entry fee. Checks are payable to North Beverly PTO. Mail to: 5K Run, North Beverly School, 48 Putnam St., Beverly, MA 01915, or register online at

Hope to see you at the 5K on Sunday to join in the fitness fun!
