Letter: Peabody needs to clean up Brown's Pond

To the editor:

With all the discussion, and rightfully so, about the restoration of Crystal Lake and Elginwood Pond, I find it unacceptable that the city of Peabody is ignoring the deplorable conditions of Brown’s Pond. It, too, is slowly being choked out of existence by underwater weeds and excess brush. Once the jewel of the city of Peabody, clean enough to host a beach with families swimming (before it was deemed a liability), the conditions have deteriorated to the point that even simply fishing is almost impossible, due to overgrown underwater weeds and vegetation. It mystifies me that City Hall hasn’t included this once-popular pond in its restoration agenda. I hope this responsible step is taken before it’s too late.
