The Salem News
---- — To the editor:
John Keenan’s letter honoring legendary Salem coach Ken Perrone (“Ken Perrone, life coach,” June 26) was a double whiff of fresh air.
The very respectful way in which John expressed his tribute to his former coach and mentor of sorts was a tribute to both Keenan and Ken Perrone.
Perrone’s advice to his players, “Try your hardest and be polite,” translates to the kind of people you want to know, team up with and have on your side and pulling for you throughout your life.
Even more so now, in this age of increasing human disengagement and new Golden Rule (“I rule!”), John Keenan and Ken Perrone are happy reminders that the lost virtue of respect and lost art of courtesy still exist — and flourish.
