To the editor:
In response to Saul Heller and his foolish but sometimes amusing rants, I felt it was time someone respond.
In a letter to the editor published several weeks ago, Mr. Heller stated how proud he was to be a Democrat, making note of all the wonderful leaders the party has produced and their good works.
First of all, Mr. Heller, the days are long past when this party was the productive, honest and moral group that my dear, departed father loved. I too embraced this party in my early years, but have long since declared my independence.
There no longer exists the "Democratic Party" that we once knew. It has been replaced by a group in disguise promoting and implementing socialist programs that are finally catching up and crippling our state and our nation. It's time Democrats stop drinking the Kool-Aid and wake up.
Unfortunately 80 percent of the national TV media outlets are controlled by these folks, who spend hundreds of millions of dollars to destroy the character of anyone who doesn't share their views. If Herman Cain were a Democrat, he would have gotten a free pass for his dalliances and the race card would have immediately been played in his defense. Unfortunately for him he was on the wrong side.
Democratic icon Bill Clinton accosted women and had sex with one in the Oval Office. Yet they built a library in his honor. All the while the silence from those great feminist groups was deafening.
The hypocrisy is just incredible. These people are given a free pass on regular basis. Make no mistake about it, the opposition is painted as the wealthy and uncaring, but the Democrat/Socialist machine has just as much money, if not more, to promote its agenda.
We have a president leading this country right now who will go down in history as our most incompetent ever. The failed programs and inability to offer a solution for the nation's problems, is unbelievable.
The one thing he is good at is forming a committee of close friends and then pointing the finger at the opposition.
To suggest that an Obama-Clinton ticket is the savior of the future, one that will rescue Main Street America, as Mr. Heller did, is totally preposterous.
We don't have to go far to find more great Democratic leaders right here in good old Taxachusetts — DiMasi, Finneran, Flaherty, Bulger, and on and on and on.
We keep re-electing these characters, yet are up to our eyeballs in debt while everyone continues getting fat raises, ignoring everything that goes on around them.
Deval Patrick, a mirror image of Obama, seeks free college tuition, housing and health care for illegal immigrants ($96 million for health care alone for these people).
How many thousands are locked up in our jails for serious crimes? I personally don't believe there's a whole lot to be proud of in regards to these folks.
Lets take care of U.S. citizens who fought our wars, served our country, worked here all their lives and paid into our system.
Now they sit by and struggle while the money is being doled out to support the socialist agenda of Obama, Patrick and their cohorts.
The real solution to the corruption and ineptness of government is term limits. Two terms and elect a replacement — no pensions or lifetime handouts at taxpayer expense. See how many of these characters would put the time and effort in to be elected then.
Next put a halt to the lobbyists (who are mostly former pols).
This could create a pool of people who would take these jobs for the right reason — to serve their country, state, city, etc.
It's been a long time since a politician actually cared for his or her constituents. We can all work a little harder to be more objective when electing our representatives.
We need to keep an open, unbiased mind.
Mr. Heller, drinking the party Kool-Aid is one thing, but you need to stop spiking it.
