Letter: Homecoming event proves composting's ease

(Continued)

Any remaining food waste would be required to be shipped to an anaerobic digestion facility, a composting operation or an animal-feed operation. Residential food waste is not included in the ban, but many Beverly citizens have been composting their organic waste for years, and are well-prepared for the inevitability of mandated residential composting.

Our annual composting initiative at Lobster Fest gives people a good look at the relative ease of food waste composting and the many waste-reduction measures that can be taken right now by everyone in their own homes.
